A slotted headstock on the steel string guitar is the best advertisement for Elixir strings that I can think of. They do look much cooler, though. And they work fine with nylon strings. But not fingertip friendly with steel strings. I've never understood the string changing panic with open headstocks. No harder or more time consuming than a solid.
